On Friday April 8, five officers of the Royal Gibraltar Police will be RUNNING a 104-kilometre relay run from Ronda to Gibraltar in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness Gibraltar. Officers will each run two 10-kilometre legs, with all five running the final four kilometres together before finishing at John Mackintosh Square on Saturday April 9 at around midday. They will be accumpanied by two support vehicles.
The run is expected to take around twelve hours to complete.
It has been organised by members of the RGP Charity Committee and is being sponsored by GIBOIL. Loise Wink, the commissioner of police will be presenting a cheque to Mrs. Isobel Ellul-Hammond for the monies raised in John Mackintosh Square at the finish of the race.
On the morning ofSaturday April 9th valuable advice on Breast Cancer Awareness as well as information on The Gibraltar Health Authority’s Breast Screening Programme will be available from Breast cancer awareness Gibraltar.
The sum of £2000 has already been collected from all RGP Officers and civilian support staff. This has been matched by the RGP Charity Committee bringing the total collected internally to £4000. A number of private donations have also been received.
